Hey There

Thank you so much for being here! We are so excited to share this dream with you. Over the last six years, we have been learning how to work our land and grow our own food.  What started as a gardening hobby in our little apartment, turned into a large garden here at home. Technically, we are not considered a farm....YET. We are more of a homestead. Our name reflects our dream and plans for our future. We've doubled our growing space this year so that means more herbs, woo! We originally wanted to modify a trailer into a commercial kitchen, but our dreams have grown into building our own commercial kitchen on our property one day. For now, we bake out of a rented space. Swanson Family Farms is a dream we are building slowly (thanks to our friends, family and all of you).  Its a way of life...to live simpler...to slow down...to build community...We want to share what we can with others in hopes that it makes you smile as much as it does us. Our belief is that simple is better and what you put in your body matters!

About Me

My name is Natasha. I run Swanson Family farms with the help of my husband, Brian. I grew up in Chicago, IL and, my husband, New York and New Hampshire. We LOVE good food. We are very passionate about our bakery items, especially our bagels!! Our baked goods are baked with lots and lots of love.

We've been in WNC since 2020. I can't quite describe the feeling of being called home to a place I had never lived, but we felt it immediately. This is home and where our roots and children will grow.

I am a nurse with a background in trauma and surgery. I still have my license, but, after becoming a mom, I decided to stay home and take care of my kids full time. I am extremely grateful to be able to do so.

Our Oma was the one who originally inspired me to bake bread. She bought us a dutch oven and sent a recipe to make no knead bread. This led me down the sourdough hole that I am happily stuck in. :)

Outside of our business, we love to be outdoors, hike and camp. You can also catch me curled up to a good book that can be REALLY hard to pry out of my hands. You will always find Brian building or fixing something. In true wife fashion, my list of projects for him grows every year haha! In all seriousness, he is the rock in our family. He keeps us grounded and steady. We could not do anything without him...We are very lucky to have him.

I firmly believe that God has given us all we need to heal our bodies. It's in nature! Food, herbs, plants and sunshine are all healing.

I love everything about creating---the perfect loaf of bread, that crust on a bagel, watching seeds turn into a beautiful plant....I get so much joy out of sharing it all with my family and friends. With enough encouragement from them, Swanson Family Farms was born. I hope you enjoy our products as much as we do. It's all made with love.

If you ever see us out and about, stop and say hi!
